Hey all

Ive read about 6 individual tutorials on creating glass and only 1 seamed to be semi realistic ?

Im using version 7 of 3dmax on a moderate gaming mashine.

Below is the tecnique that i have used please could some one comment on the photo/set up of my materials as id like to improve them.

I would also like to know how much of an effect the enviroment has on these objects aswell as the best ways to fake them?

Glass :
Diffuse > Black
Enable Supersapler : Max 2.5
Specular level 275
Glossyness 50-60
And under Maps > Reflection>Raytrace (Amount 80)
+ Opacity > Fall off (change to fresnel )

Example :http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk200/neilbagley/ASHTRAYexample.jpg

Okay now what would be the best way to advance forward ?
And Also What enviroment changes should we use and when ?

So we are asking what would be the next step on making this glass apear more realistic

Later i shall transform this into a more readable/informative topic > may even be a sticky :):
To come ...Leather
Matt Plastic/Metal material
