View Full Version : Add-the-sea manual poetry
Bucko 05-27-2003, 07:23 PM Does anybody actually understand what they are trying to say in the Atze manual? The weird language (there's a german version and one with a slight english feel to it) and the how shall I put it... Peculiar interface makes my head hurt.
It could have been a very good and inexpensive plugin but its next to useless manual (it might be readable in german) and totally counterintuitive manual make it way too awkward to do anything but the basic standard waves with.
Has anybody used it to set up a swimming object and actually succeeded? What about coastline generation? Anybody with experience beyond opening the examples and testrender?

Audity, the mod over at the Renderosity C4D forum as done quite a bit with Add the Sea. It seems to be one of his favorite plugins.

You took those words right out of my mouth. But I tried before on this forum to ask for help on ATS but didn't get much feedback. Maybe at renderosity like micketche suggest?
By the way, I saw a very nice example of a floating object with this new DynamicSpline plugin by pluginking Paul Everret. http://www.tools4d.com/
This one has a very clear and easy interface and ditto manual (but no waves)

Hi, I got ATZ some time ago and have tried to experiement with it. Audity at renderosity even made a little tutorial for it some while back, but I was too embarrased to ask -once again - how to understand it. I've made some kinda strange wave like things but I still do better with almost any other bump or displacement. I'll be watching here if anyone actually can: 1. understand it and 2. get the info out in a language I understand (english, unfortunately) thanks, a.
One of the confusing things is that the manual is not updated while the plugin itself has changed in order to work with C4Dr8. So it can now only be used as a deformer. I experimented with it several times but not to my satisfaction. Like archrendr said its much easier to use a bump with animated 3d-noise. But the plugin seems to have a lot to offer like coastline detection and floating objects. But how?
I am a fan of add the sea :)
There a number of files and recipes etc on Motion Gimmicks site guys.
I spent a while going over and over the settings and did manage to get a swimming object once, let me have a play and get back to you.If I try and explain it I will probably completely stuff it up :)
