View Full Version : My First Human Head- Older Female
Jimtuv 07-14-2008, 08:27 PM Here is my first attempt at doing a human face. I have been learning to box model over at Blender Newbies new box modeling (http://forums.blendernewbies.com/viewforum.php?f=44) forum and this is the result.

That does look like a human head.
The corners of the eyes look like they pull away from the eyeball.
The corners of the lips look like they need to twist towards the inside of the mouth. In the front view the corners look too thick.
I like the nose.

Thank you! I am happy to make it even look sorta human. I had not noticed the eyes. I used the retopo tool to make sure it was snug but it must have pulled away when I tweaked the mesh to break up the symmetry. I am not happy at all with the mouth. I didn't use a reference and I think that hurt in the long run. I am working on a new mesh that handles that part better. It also gets rid of the e-pole in the cheek. I like the nose too. It went better then I expected. Thanks again for your comments.

The topology is spot on! No crits there. It doesn't look like a human though because of shape. Look at some reference. It's just a question of using the proportional tool. Afterwards you can make your model look old by sculpting in the details.

Wow thank you very much! I have been studying your Poles and Loops thread for a month or so. I have also been reading through the one over at Subdivision Modeling. I have so much to learn about topology. I have only just gotten started. I started a thread over at Blender Newbies called Poles Loops and Flow (http://forums.blendernewbies.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=838) exploring what You and Someartist had said in your threads. I still only barely get some of it. But I think it is sinking in a little at a time. I decided to not fool with this model anymore but rebuild it from scratch. Mainly for practice but because it did not feel right as I worked. I have taken Someartist advice and built many forms (unfinished models) and I think that is what I will do for a while. And after I get the topology and shaping more fluentley I will do another attempt at a head. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my model and commenting on it. I have learned a great deal from you.
