Hello. I recently downloaded James Hunt's free rig "Max for Maya 1.1.4"

I am trying to do my own textures on the rig, but when I create a new shader and then try to apply it to the geo it gives me this error (//Error: Error while parsing arguments)

I was just wondering if anyone knew what might be wrong and how I can go about applying my own shaders?
