hi this is my first low poly model. it's based on a Giusep(giusep@HotPOP.com) concept. I wanted to make something in the Rayman style. please tell me what you think of it... it's 1468 tris and one 700*700 map. do you think it's too much tris? i know i've lost a lot of space in the uv texture. and now that i see these pictures, i think that i took something a bit difficult for beginning in low poly... round character, metal chrome everywhere, some parts not symetrics... :buttrock:

i know quality sux but i tried to reduce file size...:annoyed:

nah its ok, sorta reminds me of something out of the early crash bandicoot series on playstation. i noticed on the render, you have messed up faces on the back of it?

wwwoooo thanx u're my first reply and comment! yes that's true, i have non planar quad in the back. i have made something wrong : i made the uv from quads, and textured it when it was still quads. Now when i turn my mesh into tris, i have many distortions, because of the way the triangle are created... i should take some time to spin a few triangles to avoid these distortions and i will do it.

thanx! i'm really glad you like it! i think i'm gonna make a little walk cycle, and for this, i'll probably make the little driver too...

i'm sorry, this thread is turning into a wip. i don't know if it's possible to move it to the wip section... :shrug:
so as nObedienz said, it would be better with the little creature. this is now my second low poly character. this is an exercice, so i try to a maximum of things in my creature, like non-symmetrical stuff, muscles, chrome.... this is why the creature is not exactly like the one from the Giusep concept...
this time i have a better used space for the UV map, i also turned the mesh into tris before the skinning to prevent deformations. and finally, it's my first low poly humanoid character...

i forgot to say that he's 1244 tris and one texture map about 700*700, but i'll make it smaller, about 512*512... and year, he's got a mouth! and the inside is skinned! ok not very well skinned, but hey at list you can see that it has different color from the outside. i'll try facial expressions on lowpoly character. :D
