NeonMonkey 07-13-2008, 03:49 AM Hey everyone! I made this piece in 3D Studio Max 8 awhile back, it was initially going to be part of a level I was working on for the Unreal Editor 2004. It's simply diffuse textures with some alpha and bump mapping. Finishing touches in Photoshop. Hope you guys like :-)

Looks like an interesting design. It's looking kinda bland right now though, I think it will come alive once you add normal and spec maps as well as better lighting.

First get rid of the lens flare, that is never needed in a render(IMPO). Lens flare are something that only happen with a camera, so why have it unless you are trying to reproduce a specific camera shot. Second with the sun being that bright the shadows are quite weak. The difference between the lit areas and unlit areas needs more contrast. I like the design over all though.

yep, looks cool indeed.
I just think that it also looks too new and shiny, like a toy a bit ;)
I would make main stone texture lighter and less saturated, but would also put grunge overlays on top of it.
I join to comments about lighting - it really has to be more contrasted, and lit side should be way more bright because of a sunset.
