I recently bought a new laptop and I'm wondering how you guys think it will preform, also if you guys have any advice as to the operating system (stick with Vista or go with XP x64, dual boot the two... go with XP 32 and lose a gig of ram?)

It's an XPS 1530 and I bought it for $1300 (inc tax and shipping). It's got the following.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9300 (2.5GHz/800MHzFSB, 6M L2 Cache)
4GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
320GB HDD (7200rpm)
8X DVD+/-RW
and a delicious 1920 by 1200 pixel screen, mmmmm, pixels

I also got N wireless and bluetooth, I'm not sure that was a worthwhile investment but since I already got them, do you guys have any cool ways to utilize the capability of bluetooth and N wifi.

P.S. It also has a fingerprint scanner, does anyone know of a good password manager that you can just swipe your fingerprint to type passwords into webpages etc.

Thanks for any help/insight/comments.

A few months back I bought the XPS1330, so good choice! I say stick with Vista but go to 64bit for definite. It should perform fine for 3D work.

Dell should have supplied fingerprint software (provided by UPEK on mine), but if you've lost it somehow, you should be able to get it from the Dell's website.
