CaptCunning 05-27-2003, 09:10 AM This is a model that has been lying in my bookshelf in pieces for close to 10 years now, so for fun I thought I'd just model it in MAX and throw it out... Might use the model to practise rigging too...

Don't know yet. Might be tempted to do a cockpit. We'll see. 1st priority is rigging...and texturing.

Update. Legs are almost finished. Soon I'll start on wear and tear :) Antennas and small personal touches to make it look like some crew has modded it the way they like...

This is about 2 weeks of work. But I seldom get to sit down and do any serious modelling, so in that sense it is probably more like three days of actual work...

Looks good. You can continue to model details, depends of what degree of photorealism you want. You should bevel a little bit all your edges so they can catch some specularity and your renderings will improve a lot
Hope this will help you

good but it lacks more details. maybe a good texture can help.

Thanx everyone. There are a lot of armour seams still missing on the body, and I have started to chamfer the edges on the legs. Antennas, ropes, bits of wiring and all that little stuff comes last.

The drinking of lovely beverages has taken up a lot of my time lately, but this weekend I had the appartment to myself and could get some work done. I have thrown a wheeled tank in there, it is from the same game, and started on the hangar. Right now I am trying to get the lighting right. Takes a lot of time, but I think it's worth it because it can emphasise the models and also hide things that you might not be all that happy with..

Stats:
Rays: 500
Filter size: 10
Lights: 8
Faces: 226500
Render time: 37 minutes
The grain is added in PS because the render was way too clean. And the brownish light is from a direct light outside the hangar with a yellowish color. Suppposed to be nearing sunset.

very nice. I like the angle of the shot and the grain too... it gives it an "undercover spy photo" look to it. The lighting seems just right as well.

A couple of updates. Got rid of about 100000 polys :) So now the rendering times are a bit more bearable. Also modeled some new props and textured the floor.

A couple more before I go to bed... Added a maintenance droid thing. Just for kicks. And the grain in the first image is added intentionally in PS using film grain...

I'm thinking this'll go in the finished gallery once this last render is done. There are no more comments so I guess people think it's done.... Now on to rigging the walker.

Looking great bruv!!! The lighting is really working well... Once its rigged I wanna see a full animated dance routine, perhaps swan lake? maybe the Can Can would be a better place to start......

How about some Irish folk dance. Imagine Riverdance with 20 of those things :applause:
