Hi all

I posted this over at xsi base, but figured i should try here too.
I am new to doing camera projection work in XSI, and fairly new to 3D in general. I am wondering what the best way is to import an images alpha channel that i am projecting?

Because there are so few tutorials on camera projection in xsi, i guessed a bit and did the projection by adding a lambert shader to my proxy geometry, and plugging the matte painting that i am projecting into the lambert shaders ambience port. Then i plugged the alpha of the area of the matte painting that i want to be projected into the same shaders transparency.
That seems to have worked, but i am unsure if i am going about this in the right way or doing it wrong / a long way round / a way round that will run into trouble further down the line...

Any help would be much appreciated.

If i'm correct there should be a slew of tutorials on the new xsi community website, and they put most of the DVD tutorials online there. Maybe the two camera projection tuts are there as well.

Edit: http://community.softimage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 (http://community.softimage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7)video 8 ;-)

There was this vast.com website with all the production DVD stuff, but it seems to be dead now.....

It's might be better though to use the constant shader and plug the texture into the color port.
Other than that select your projecting camera for the UV's and it should work the same.

P.S. there are some threads on camera projection on xsibase as well.

Rob - Thanks a bunch buddy! That tutorial that you linked to is the same one that used to be on the VAST website, but like you said is no longer available. I used to have terrible difficulty streaming on the VAST site too, but i could view that fine on the xsi community pages. That will definitely help, thanks again!
