To my knowledge there is an old issue with stich selected in UVW unwrap: using the dialog you can scale cluster, but using script or using stich selected tool you always will stich without scaling regardless on what you have stet as default in the dialog.
Im currently still working on max 8, Maybe this as been solved in latest version ?
If not I'd be glad to take some advice on how to make stich selected work as intended (using the scale flag) thx.
