View Full Version : Need help with local/global movement of verticies, after models been posed...
strick9 05-27-2003, 06:58 AM Does anybody know if there is a way in Maya to edit my mesh with local/global transform after I have it posed into "position" I am working on a model that will be stagnant, and used a smooth bind so I could pose it into a position for a still, but as I go back to edit the verticies they seem to be moving based on the orientation of the joints and not in the xyz axis. Thanks in adavnce for any answers!

Select the vertices that you need to deform, and to them apply a deformer:
probably a cluster is best for a small number of points whose destination lies in the same direction, or look at the wide variations (of deformers) available; edit, and when happy with the result, select the deformer and the mesh, and then delete by type ----> history.

Thanks for the reply Atwooki.
I will give that a try, although I was hoping for a way to get back into editing the mesh as I was when I started the project by pushing and pulling verts, even slicing it up more and adding more detail. I mainly only used the skeleton to get it into the pose I want. Is there any way now to get rid of the skeleton, without it losing its pose?
Thanks again.
