View Full Version : Ahhhhhhhhh! Setting up dual monitors on win2k with MX card and single monitor input
Shade01 05-27-2003, 05:44 AM Ok, so I got this Leadtek A170 DDRT GeForce4 MX card. It's only got a single monitor input but it swears it supports dual monitors through nView and a Y splitter to connect 2 monitors to the 1 input. Fine, I went out and bought one and hooked up two monitors but win 2k will not detect the second monitor nor can I force it to go to a dual monitor setup. Almost all of the functions in nView properties and advanced tab on my graphics card are grayed out. How do I set this up? I was checking out this thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54463&highlight=dual+monitors) where someone had a similar problem and it sounds like he got it to work but it doesnt explain how. Any type of help would be most appreciated!

read the article you linked to carefully.
the spiltter is a generic 1->2 y-splitter. nview (nor any other utility) will detect two monitors from this thing. it merely takes one signal and sends it to two different displays (like any other y-splitter on earth).
as the signal is identical to each monitor, the refresh rate, colour depth and image size will all be identical. make sure both the monitors you've hooked up are capable of the display properties you've chosen before connecting them.
as a rule: try 640x480 at 60Hz fist and work up from there.
nview is only for nvidia cards with multiple display out units. nview WILL NOT support a generic y-splitter.
