OMG! enders game is my favorite sci fi novel , i hope this'll be good.
cause if this one does well they can film speaker of the dead and the third novel (i forgot the name) too :bounce:

Enders' Game is one of the best books I've ever read. (I'm not a huge sci-fi book fan, for those who don't like them)
Book 3--Children of the mind
have you read Enders' Shadow? I don't think they would get to it, though here's hoping. I've never heard of a book like it, it repeats Enders' game but from the view of Bean.

oh.. thanks for the post Monotypic:buttrock: got all excited!
ahem...
book2 - Xenocide
book3 - Speaker for the Dead
Ender's game really was good (I was a bit less jazzed about the sequels).
The only problem - I already know the surprise ending!:scream:

Actually book 2 is 'Speaker for the Dead' and book 3 is 'Xenocide'.
It will be interesting to see how they do the movie and if they can manage to pull off the ending.
later,
Greg

yeah right... book 4. I allways seem to think of Enders games as it's own.

That is very old news :) but thanks.
And just a heads up for everyone, it is not Ender's Game. It is a combination of five of the series books, with Ender's Game actually being only a small portion, since Mr. Petersen didn't want to work with children the entire movie.
There is a lot more information on the net, just google it.
I only know because we put in a script bid for work a long time back. Didn't get it though

all five books huh wow , I wonder if they'll be able to fit all that info in one film.

Not all five, parts from all 5. Mostly it will have EG and Ender's Shadow. Best place for info is prolly ain'titcool news.

what about the people who want to see Enders' Game, not some patchwork movie? books 2-4 were good but nothing compared to Enders' game, I'm starting to wish someone else would direct it if Wolfgang has problems with children.

book 1 ender's game
book 2 speaker for the dead
book 3 xenocide
book 4 children of the mind
book 5 enders shadow (REALLY good)
book 6 shadow of the hegemon
book 7 shadow puppets
If it combines ender's game and ender's shadow, it has the potential to be decent, yet not have kids on screen all the time. OSC seems to be staying fairly heavily involved in it, which is good. He knows what made the book(s) good, and he knows that it can't be a film as is.
Ender's game was probably my favorite book for a long time, and ender's shadow definitely gives it a run for it's money.

That's stupid imo. Ender's Game deserves its own movie. I was really looking forward to this until I read that. :(

Hrm..yeah, the more I hear about the combination of books and the "doesn't want to work with kids" thing, I wonder at the handling of it. Authors have been 'deeply involved' with productions of movies and still had them turn out horribly (Johnny Mnemonic anyone? Any new production Stephen King's 'approved of'?).
I think the real problem with following the kids though is casting..it seems hard enough to even get ONE kid who has the kind of acting chops needed to play Ender or Bean, let alone a whole group of them, and no way could they do it for the ages required. There have been some great movies with ensembles of kids made before, but they've all been comedies in one form or another, or completely messed up documentaries.
