Hey all,
I have finally finished and posted the latest version of Basic Guy (v3.0.0)! The biggest addition is that he now has a fully rigged face.

You can find him here:

Instead of writing up a long user's manual, I did a video capture of me pulling and pushing on the rig. It's a bit "dry" (I did it in the early hour before work and without a lot of coffee;) ), but the video should hopefully show you the ins and outs of the rig. That can be watched/downloaded from here (You'll need the latest Quicktime installed):

Video Specs:
run time: ~25 minutes
H.264
~60MB

Cheers and happy animating!

Hey all,
I made a very minor rig tweak. Some people wanted the ability to shift Basic Guy's face rig to the left or right of his head. That ability is now in the latest version (v3.0.1). To do that, select the ring around the face rig controls (BG_faceControlRig) and the attribute is called "RigShift"

Great job dude! I love all the little extras you've included like the extra controls for the tongue and cheek that you don't see in other rigs. I also REALLY like the built in squash and stretch you've included when translating the spine and hip controls.

A couple of additional things that would really put this rig over the top, is the ability to lock knees and elbows, so that they can remain planted on a surface such as a table for example. And the other thing would be to tweak the brow up/down control, as right now they look very pointy and unnatural. Finally, a nice extra would be to include bendbos on the arms and legs. Like say you pose the arm Up for a wave, then you could tweak 3 or so controls along the arm to give it more of a curvature, so that you can sculpt the arm and legs into a curved C or S shape. I've seen some rigs that do this between the wrist and the elbow for example, but it's even better when you make the elbow IK as well. I hope all this made sense .Keep up the good work!!!

archanex: Thanks for the great crit! I totally agree about the bendable arms/legs. That's been on my list of additions for a bit. I just wanted to get him out sooner than later. But yes, that will be in a future release. The elbow/knee lock. Once again, totally agree. I'll have to research how to do it, but yes, keep an eye out for that too! The eyebrows one: not exactly sure what you're saying...myabe I just need to add more brow bones across the ridge of the brow. Pretty straight forward (if that's what you mean..?)

Mr Purple: Thanks! And, you're more than welcome! Now, go beat him up a bit:D!
