Stabilize the shot, double the layer, shift the downmost layer a few frames backwards(or forward, not sure), mask the black lines, adjust scale and color if needed.
The idea behind this is that you use the part of the picture right before it crosses the black lines to replace the black lines.

yeah i see what you're saying, that should work.
Do I stabalize to the road and not to the lines?
Also do you mean to say I mask out the lines on the above layer so you see through to the layer below which is a few frames behind?

Actually I meant the window, whiochnincludes the lines I guess.

Quite right. Not sure if it works better with a few frames behind or upfront, gotta try it out.

but if the lines are stabalised then when I mask them out to the layer below, the lines will be in the same place and you'd still see them. Plus it would make the road jump around like mad... if i am understanding you correctly

So you will have to reposition the layer below a bit.
I know this requires a bit of testing but that's basically the way I usualls remove scratches, dust and wires.

ok, i see what ur saying now, don't think it's worth the effort. It's such a long shot and the lines are really prominent, had a quick go and it wasn't looking good. maybe i'm doing it wrong...

next time don't film out the back window:) But scrimski has it spot on. That's going to be the best and easiest way to remove them, shouldn't be to difficult really.
