Hi,

Been studying other peoples work and anatomy references, trying to come up with something good. I am happy with the form but the topology is becoming very complicated to work with.

From what I can see right now, you have too many direction changes in your topology. It should flow better. Seeing as how you are using Zbrush, you can retopo this model quite easily.
