Hi all,

i've almost got my heart set on moving to LA soon. I've worked in boston and NYC and i'm a skilled maya/lightwave animator and a good compositor. I'm able to pull off pretty good photoreal work.

So my questions are for those who are in the know, working in the biz out there.....

1. Do you freelance?
2. How much do would you reccomend someone trying to break in charge per hour of work (3d or 2d if you know both). (right now i log in at $35 an hour and at my job i do both 2d/3d.)
3. Whats the deal with east coast people....they hate LA? I've been there 3 times....its just seems flatter.
4. Apartments look pretty damn cheap out there. I pay 600 a month and i live with 3 roomates in a kinda bad neighborhood.
5. Did you get your foot in the door thru a contact or just by sending out a reel?
6. I know that in NYC skilled 3d people get $400 a day for work. Skilled and experience can expect 600. Is this compareable to LA?
7. There are many internships avialable in Boston and NYC in general, has anyone gone this route?

I can't thank you enough for taking some time to answer any (or all!) of my questions. I hope to move out and become part of a community of artists. I'm looking for an adventure, to have fun, and to work with the best in the business.

Thanks again.
