Hey everyone,

Ive been working on a scene for a good while now. Ive finished at am up to the rendering/compositing stage. I recently ran into a problem with the occlusion pass and getting displacement maps to show up in it, but I sorted that by manually creating shaders for these objects and that worked fine.

So now im trying to render each pass out at 1024 x 768, but the displacement for the floor has disappeared?!?!

The thing is, that it renders when I switch it back to 640 x 480, or 320 x 240...And the other object with a displacement still works, its just the floor that stuffs up. Its still there because when I change values, it floods my scene with an inflated floor geometry...

very confused...please help!

you didn't really eplain your situation clearly or what software your using, but it sounds like your floor is displacing to much? If your using maya you can adjust the alpha offset/ gain values to help displace less..

I know about the alpha offset already, the settings for the scene are fine, everything looks how I want it to in 640x480. The problem I had was that just by changing resolution of the render size, it changes settings in the scene (stuffing the displacement map).

Attatched are the two renders for the occlusion pass that I am struggling with, the only thing different about these images in their settings is the resolution (one is 640x480, the other is 1024x768). The weirdest thing is that the displacement map for the skull still works...

By the way, Im using maya 2008 unlimited.

mmmm

try to lower the offset when u increase the output render... try and tell us Wat did u get

No luck, changing the offset had little effect, still no displacement. However, I have a feeling if I increase the number of spans on the nurbs plane which the texture is on, it will have an effect. Ill give it a try.

I probably should have mentioned before that im using a nurbs plane for the floor...
