View Full Version : Eat 3D announces Next-Gen Texturing Techniques
RikiB 07-07-2008, 07:50 AM May I introduce to you an exciting new training video brought to you by Eat 3D (www.eat3d.com (http://eat3d.com/)).
The instructor starts off by explaining the very fundamentals of using Photoshop for texturing. From there he goes into depth on how to set up your high res and low res meshes for rendering Normal, AO, and other Maps.
Once the scene and basics have been defined it's on to the entire texturing process of the self contained scene.
This video has almost 5 hours of teaching and demonstration that will serve as the ultimate texturing resource.
To watch a sample of the video please visit this link:

The instructor is a Sr. Environment Artist at Midway Games in Austin and has been involved in making games for over 6 years now. He has worked on titles such as Midways Stranglehold and Blacksite Area 51, and is currently working on an exciting ultra high quality next-gen game.
Sincerely,
Riki Babington - Eat3D Admin

Well, you can argue about the name, but the content looks pretty neat.

haha, yeah the name is a little cheesy I guess but its a very short url and easy to remember. I also laughed when the Wii was announced, but it stuck with me.
Thanks for the props ThomasMahler

I will most probably buy the download version of this tutorial since I bought the "old pillar" tutorial and was very pleased with it.
Btw this comes from a guy that works on feature films, not real time games, so you can probably grab some nice tips even if its not your work field.
Eat3D is doing some really nice job with their tutorials.

It certainly looks great, I've been keeping my eye on Eat3d as they continue to offer more and more great training.
Question: how well does this apply to someone who doesn't use 3DS max? Are there enough tips in there to justify a purchase for a Maya user?

I tried to register on this site and didn't manage to get past that human verification shit. I mean, honestly, what the hell? I entered the text straight, I entered it opposite, I used caps, I didn't use caps - **** that.
Seriously, that human verification stuff is the most idiotic bullshit that's ever been designed.

Sorry about that Thomas, I changed the verification to be question based now to simplify the process. Try it and let me know if its better.

Definitely yes, the max portion is just to describe how to get your AO and Normal Maps and all that. Most of the DVD is how to texture using Photoshop.
Thanks everyone for the kind words!
