Well it was havok that did the dynamics for that scene who's game engine is being used in half life 2 and in 3dsmax as reactor...

Unreal Tournament 2003 uses Havok for their ragdoll anim stuff. That agent Smith would make a kickass UT model.

dude! This is awesome. I loike how even though it's low poly, it still looks incredible. It would look even better animated!! Can we get a close-up shot of the Neo model?

Brilliant, i love the final comp. i know this sounds dumb but at first i did not realize that those were your models in that scene until i looked at it a second time. great work.
is there a good tutorial that shows how to put a side and front view image of a face, like you did for a texture map, together for texturing. i have tried and mine always seem to come together blochy in the end.

Nice! LOL that was a pretty funny scene in the movie.

05-26-2003, 07:35 PM
i just realized this after looking a little closer, this is nit picky but if you can sacrifce anywhere on that texturemap, get another somehitng for the other lens on the glasses, cause right now they look a little funny with the same image, but if you cant it still looks good.

Well done ;)
IMO motion blur instead of dof would make it look more like in the movie ;) As would some color correction (someone will probably tell that motion blur is overused and so, but ...).

This is soo funnie! and also pretty dam good physics :) is there any place where I can try out the trial version of the Havok Game Dynamics SDK? I tried there site at http://www.havok.com/ for the trial verison and filled out there evaluation copy.. but.. it doesn't work? just says for more info? contact? thats it? wheres the trial version?? :(
Nice!!!
Make you a deal..
You animate it...15-20 seconds...(or more...whatever...)and I'll host it for you.
C'mon....you knew we were gonna ask!!!

wow i love your picture ! it's great work. you know what, i bet that your Neo is more similar to the real Neo than the 3d one in the movie! i mean Neo model and textures from the movie suck. thought i diskliked very much the movie, fx were really cool!
anyway, i liked this scene because of crazy animation and i love your picture!
your mesh is also really cool, very clean!

Wow im really impressed! When i saw the render the first time i had no idea the model used was so low. Im modelling a high polygon character now and progress is so slow. Trying to get every muscle and bone right and then i see this. Your model looks absolutel beautifull. Makes we wonder wether im not complicating things too much with my highpoly stuff.
I also really like the play aspect you are talking about. A friend of mine is an animator but not very fond of modelling. He would like to have me build a relatively low polygon figure for him to animate with. This kind of stuff is totally up his ally! So i decided to give it a shot (never modelled low poly before) with your character as an example and for reference.
While working on the mesh (so far im trying to more or less duplicate yours; hope you dont mind) i find all the little details that i missed when just glancing over it the first time. Like the cloth folds you modelled in.
I have a bold request to make though. It seems the wire you posted is of him posed. Hence the fold in his suit on his shoulder. Its getting very hard deciphering the mesh. Would you do me a huge favour by posting up some shots of him unposed and flatshaded? I know im asking for alot but it would probably help me understand some of the structures you build into the mesh and their function in deformation. Offcourse some tips (instead) would be very much appreciated too.
Keep up the good work. :)

BTW, 3d max 5 comes with reactor dynamics, if u want Havok physics you'll have to meet a salesman personally, thats why it costs minimum 50 grand to implement their physics.

Awesome stuff, love it.
You captured the moment. I bet it was fun putting this together.
More angles. Go on, even if you simply animate the camera circling the action.
It would look like bullet time.
Well done

No need to. Save yourself some chump change and read this thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62360) in it's entirety. You won't need to stand in line (if there are lines anymore) to see this turkey of a movie;)

Much better than the movie version. The Wachowski's & Co. could learn a thing or two from you.;)

Well you could use the same tool that they used to visualize the real shots : MOTIONBUILDER.
With a 3d card such as the latest nvidia fx 2000 and 50+ characters, you could run this entire scene in real-time (50K-75K+ polys @20-30 fps) ...

I think Agent Smith should have his own comic book that reveals his side stories, and how miserable he is in the matrix..And of coarse many more failures to beat Neo.
Potentailly he can be a very cool character that brings us much comedy.

You have really mastered your craft in regards to low poly models! Fantastic job! Do you know of a tut out there that deals with (in detail) texturing mapping for faces and the like? Keep up the good work , I would love to see this thing animated however brief. Would you be able to give your source work to someone to animate? I couldnt do it well enough to do it justice but I am sure there is enough talent here to do it.

I cant understand why so many people get in line and fall of bridges every time a new Megabuster hype comes out, every 6 months or so its either Starwars 3 or Matrix 4, people will still feed upon it like its new DNA or a new braincells
I havent seen the Matrix reloaded and wont see it anytime soon, i dont like to be "controled", like there were not enough subliminal scenes in this flick
Still Goodlag, your an incredible artis, love your work

Very cool work, Goodlag!
Here's a challenge: create a Machinima scene using these assets. You've already created the UT2k3 models - you can develop this scene using the Matinee tools.
We're holding the Machinima Film Festival 2003 (http://www.machinima.org) (info coming soon)- would be a sweet entry into the fest if you were able to create it.
Again, great work!

It looks beautiful. The machinima idea would be great. Hey I want it animated too!
Seriously though. If you go to see Matrix reloaded for the action you are missing 80% of the point. However in the interest of staying on topic I'm not gonna start a debate here. ;)
Also its not subliminal messageing, its product placement. Can we say Cadilac? Ducati? I'm sure there are others I missed.

Someone is already making a low poly agent smith; but I would like to see yours use in UT as well.
