View Full Version : Still: Metal Creation
Phasmatis 05-26-2003, 03:56 PM I know it's a terrible title but I've never been good at thinking them up. :)
I used Cinema 8.1, it took 6 hours to render.

Hehe, that's what I'd call a hot coffee.
But on some regents the metal and the corosion do look really fake. Maybe you should add some scratches?

Thanks for the comments, they've been very helpful.
Here's an update.
I'm still not happy with the rust and I tried to add some scratches but I think I still need to work on the shader for those.

Great concept Phasmatis. It's looking real cool. One suggestion: use the rust shader in the diffusion and bump channels as well as the color channel, and maybe mix it with a grunge map or at least another noise procedural. If you're already doing that I'd crank up the diffusion and bump a bit.

Ah yes, thanks Adam, I always forget about the diffusion channel. The rust looks a lot better now, I'm still not happy with the metal, it looks a little plastic, I think I need to play around with the specular a bit more.
Thanks for your help. :)
I've edited the first post, so it shows the updated image.
