Hello there,

im currently trying some things with vehicles. I am modeling for some time now, but when it comes to special effects, materials and stuff in 3D Studio Max im really a beginner. Now i was trying to give my vehicle a photorealistic look with a realistic metal and glass, but well it doesnt work out for me...

i am trying this for days now and tried lots of tutorials, but i never get a satisfying look, and even sometimes i dont get any result even following every step of a tutorial, giving me just a plain white or something for glass e.g.

Slowly i am getting frustrated (i think everybody who ever worked with 3D will know this feeling) and i was hoping that somebody could help me in this case. Is there a cool step by step tutorial out there, explaining how to give a car the last touch to make it look realistic. There are tons of tutorials out there, dealing with the process of modeling a car, but i rarely found a tutorial about making it look realistic.

Id be happy for any help... Thanks in advance.

if ya can put your hands somewhere on "3dsmax magic" book, there is a tutorial which deals exactly what you're looking for... it's a standard method with no GI and that kinda stuff.

just to give ya a clue, I doubt you will get some real photorealism without HDRI maps, so consider using them for your reflection...

hope this helps.
