I want to create a cartoon style character (human) similar to animated TMNT movie.
I was told to work on my topology by a member of this forum. So I started completely over and tried to use his advice as best I can.

I watched the tutorial, but he really doesn't explain what he's doing too well

With my second attempt I have run into some problems:
Corner of the mouth is too sharp
Cheek and chin not rounding out.
Eye overlapping the the eye socket, but I think pushing some verts out will fix that. If you have a better way to do the eye, I'm all ears.

I don't have any experience or schooling in 3d modeling. I'm using 3ds Max and following the Eva Wild DVD. I willing to take any advice.

First attempt:

Second (current):

Its kind of hard to just describe the concept of edge looping in a post, but I suggest you google the term and you will find many excellent tutorials. I was able to find this site for you that was posted by someone here previously.

http://www.kurvstudios.com/free_tutorials/login.php

that should have some free videos covering some head modeling techniques. You will need to register though. Also try youtube, there are many modeling videos on there you may find useful. All it takes is practice, you will get the hang of it in time. One thing I did when I was first learning is collect wireframe art work from other artist who had good technique and study their loops. hope this helps

just realized that there is an entire thread at the top of these topics covering topology. It is an excellent resource for what you are trying to learn.

Thx, boss.
I've actually came cross a Digital Tutors and got the Stylized Females dvd.

I like the box modeling method a lot better.
