Title: Network System
Name: James Paick
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
This painting was initially brought about from a concept I had about a unique place with elements from modern, futuristic and primitive natures. This tells a story of a couple of sailors routing through a river and passing through a massive futuristic ruin. Completely painted in photoshop. More of this series to come.
I hope you guys enjoy.
Thanks
James Paick

 Wow man, you're a shooting star!!
My first thing was giving you 5* (if there where more stars i'll give it to you right away...). This is the best picture i've seen here lately! Absolutely excellent stuff in every aspect! I always like the 'loosely' or 'speedpaint' like paintings, where the slight tone differences gives the details. You did your art in this mood in my opinion, but in a very elegant and severe style... inspiring!
Keep it up!
I've checked your home page. Impressive portfolio! Have you got any tutorial of how to make something like this?

Beautiful environment. Your understanding of structure and light is amazing. The sense of depth and form from foreground to background is executed perfectly. The shock of red in the sails of the boats is a nice splash of contrast in an otherwise monochromatic setting. Wonderful stuff!

amazing.....just great, love the strokes and the brush feeling.
If I can dare say one thing, it would be about the sharpness of the light rays.....it's the only thing that bothered me in the image...but completly irrilevant as the whole thing is amazing...

I went through your portfolio and I must say you have come a long way so much improvement in your works from nowadays!
Is it just by a big load of work or ? How can one improve so much?! :)

This is great! I love the colors, the style, the emotion of the piece; really beautiful!
I do have two small crits, though. The first is that you state the structure is a massive ruin, but there is almost nothing in the painting that conveys that. All of the lights are on. Nothing is crumbling in disrepair except, possibly, the stairs in the left foreground. The looseness of the technique used in this piece means that you really have to break something if you want it read as broken.
The second crit is just that you said you wanted the place to blend modern, futuristic and primitive elements, but I didn't see anything that looked particularly primitive in the picture. The boats seem to be the most primitive things there, but they aren't from that place, right? Is there something specific that I missed?
Anyway, it's a stunning piece. Congrats!

YOu got some serious itch for painting. Nicely done!
I love this! The image geometry flows with great balance. Great colors too, the way you've placed your reds in strategic spots over the muted background. I agree with Libor that this has the right amount of suggested detail without being over painted; it gives it magic. Bravo! 5*

I really like it. I love how you captured the light in this picture. Its as if they have just discovered this place. I also love the contrast from the sail to the background. It really makes it stand out really well. I also like how you created so much detail but very simply. The focal point is rather interesting as well. Btw, what have you intended the center structure to be. Just wondering. I would love to hear more about the story side of this piece.
Great job.

Hi, I love the art in this picture. I really love the sailboats! At first I thought it was a picture about a futuristic city where they still taked advantage of wind to travel around, but there's no wind there it'd seem, right? the two travellers are going to need a way to thrust themselves out of that place.

Excellent work - REALLY! I am impressed with the way your painting forces our eyes to delve deeper into the focal point and wonder what's beyond that. I saw the rest of your portfolio as most of the others who viewed this thread, and most impressive as well. It reminds me of when I was a kid (late 70's, early 80's) and I would love to stare at the beautiful artwork on the cover of OMNI and other futuristic depictions on magazine covers. Hats off to your work friend!
