Good job on this article, thanks for your time guys!:applause:
However I wouldnt call it "Master" because the image totally lacks quality in terms of bump, specular pass and even in a uv mapping.
Seems like realtime shaded image not master rendering...
Just my 2 cents...

oh come on, tutorial? It's barely 50 words. It's nice to read these 'making of's' , but i'd hardly call it a tutorial.

I agree. Very nice work, but I'm not sure what anyone might actually learn from this article.

Maybe we are missing the point here. The artwork is still very impressive. The artist has already agreed that the modeling is very basic.
While the article is very concise, all the basics of excellent 3D work is still very much evident; i.e., original textures, good lighting, good composition.
Until the day arrives when every newbie can post 3D work of this calibre, then maybe we can discount this artist's effort.
Until then, maybe we should cut him some slack and view this piece as an excellent still life, which it is, whether it is 2D, 3D or traditional media.
I do agree that the article is not much of a tutorial. It's more like "An artist's working methods and perspective".

Looks great! Thanks for the article.
I wouldn't exactly view it as a tutorial yet. I look it at more as an overview of an approach or workflow for developing a CG still life image.
Some aspects of the article were very interesting such as the artist's means of shooting his own textures, but other areas seemed to scratch the surface, such as his description of his lighting approach, applying global shaders to the objects and compositing the final image.
I'm intrigued by the article and would like to know more about the specifics of what he is doing since I'm a full-time 3dsmax user myself. I really hope he has some time to expand on this one. It's off to a good start.

I found it to be a very interesting read. I'm new to 3D modeling and thought it gave some very nice insight. I'm glad he shared his process.

Greate article! I like it! Specially I enjoied seeing the Artist envirenment at last image with Expose book in his hands!! some messy env just like mine! it's so encouraging! :D
