The likeness is very good. The light and form are also good.
His left eye is a little weird. It's smaller than the right, and at an awkward angle.
My only other crit is the color. Looks like too many greys and blacks mixed in with the other colors, but you already mentioned this.

Thanks alot thats the feedback i like to hear, I didn't even notice that eye thing, its crazy that once your working on a painting you end up losing sight on things.

hey! looks great so far!
i agree about the colors, a little bit richer would be wonderful ^^

the only thing i notice right now is the nose, its a little crooked (flip the painting horizontally and i think you'll see what im talking about) but thats all i got so far. looks wonderful!!
