Hello people,

I'm trying to set up some turntable renders and would like some advice. I want to show unsmoothed with wires, then to smoothed, then to textured.

The image is a quick test. I've set up the camera, and am using a surface shader with the colour mapped with the ambient occlusion texture.

What I'm wondering about is background. At the moment, it's just an image plane with ramp assigned to it. What are your thoughts on the colour? Should I have a gradient, or just a flat colour, or create some geometry? Also, the shado on the ground is just a plane with a ramp on transparency. It blocks some light to create extra occlusion and adds the impression of a ground plane.

any advice appreciated,

cheers

gubar

The main thing is, that the background should not distract from the actual model. Have a look at this: http://www.game-artist.net/forums/vbarticles.php?do=article&articleid=25
