Title: Remembrance
Name: Troy Packer
Country: New Zealand
Software: Photoshop
This is a continuation of the Helena image. On the outside the image is about death collecting the souls of the dead from wars of the past. A deeper meaning can be found from this image. I have mine and I encourage you to find your own version.
Any crits would be most welcome

Good details.
But, what's the point of painting that dudes behind? I just can't read the sense of this picture because of them... Would be much better without this strange dead scouts...

Dear Troy and dimms,
To react also on dimmms.
I think the dead scouts on the background was a good choice, since if they weren't there, the picture would be a normal portrait were the story was written after it. By seeing the scouts, you can immidiatly see that they are soldiers from the past. By the way, nice detailing on the clothing.
Have to agree with Leonie on this, the soldiers give meaning to the title and add another dimension to the picture. A very good piece of work.

Thanks for taking the time to give your thoughts to the image guys. I was in a bit of a dilema about whether to include the soldiers or not, but agree that it does give the image more meaning. The main idea for the image is that these soldiers saw many horrible things and I would hope that they saw something beautiful as they crossed over. The woman (death) represents this in a way, but it could be anyone, a wife, a child, or anything that could have brought them happiness in life. The poppies of course symbolize remembrance.

Nice job on her face and body, her hands could use some more definition.
