Wirmpolter 05-26-2003, 01:53 AM Hey all and hows it going, i just wanted to say hi my name is Chris Stipe and im new to this forum. Ive had 3ds max 5 for a few months now. And im into doing modeling, i like cars, i want to learn to model buildings to look sci-fi, and weapons
I also wanted to know if anybody could help teach me how to make a window look like a window, ive tried to but have had no such luck, also if anybody can teach me to do the little details, like door handles etc, that would be much appreciated.
I live in Ontario, Canada by the way, so nice to meet all of those who msg me back.

i just wanted to say hi to all
and everything
Howdy !
Welcome to this forum Chris ! Hope you find help here (well i'm sure you will, actually) if you need it : )
First thing you might want to check out are Resources, since this forum holds a lot, specially tutorials, that might help you get going. Check the sticky thread it has a link to some 1000 tutorials on Max (as well as rules for posting, always good to check that out), and the Resources sub forum.

Welcome to the forum Chris. Your gonna find some amazing resources and artists here. Just dig around and don't be afraid to ask (just make sure you tried the good'ol F1 button first).
Oh and everything mouj said.

lol. ya i have used f1 before, i dont really like using the references and tutorials in the program, because to me someone already done it, and who knows how to do it, would have a better time to explain to me. like i best learn if someone explains to me how to do it instead of reading it out of a book. Ive been doing well on my own, but im still a complete noob who hopes to get into animation really well, but i know its going to take some lots of practice and patience to get as good as half the people in this forum.
So hows everybody going? what are you guys into in 3ds max, etc? are you guys into modeling, F/X, etc
Welcome! Please don't dismiss the online help and reference books you are shooting yourself in the foot if you do. You will find people are much more helpful if you are asking a question that is not documented well. Glad to have you here.

alirght dude, im sorry. Didnt mean it to come out that way, lol.
umm anybody have any car blueprints already seperated that they could help me out with, doesnt matter what car, anything i can learn on, i already did the fiat 500 tutorial over a few times, but im not a big fan off the fiat 500.
thanks all
Yup, if you prefer people talking : ) then you might want to check out 3dbuzz (http://www.3dbuzz.com), they have great videos for download (registration is free) where are explained many 'general' aspects of Max as well as particular stuff (Animation Controllers but also Reactor Controllers, Modeling to name few).
It's video, you can see what the guy is doing, and you can hear him doing it, and explaining why.
