I was wondering, while looking through some of the final construction images submitted for the Dominance War 3 competition, what modifier(s) the modelers are using to hide the poly forms of their models, if any. I'm a a noob when it comes to understanding basics of good rendering modifiers and what particular texture mapping formats can do.
Is a normal map (plus all other maps used) enough to hide the actual hard edges of the polys, or is a modifier applied to the basic poly model prior to producing a full texture render? Is it just the illusion of the map hiding those edges to my eyes?
