Hi all,
This was originally a concept for a weapon to appear in the Quake3 mod Alien Culture, but it was decided not to include this particular design. I was fond enough of it, however, to model it in 3d studio max 5.1. The polycount is close to 28k - obviously not intended for use in a game - just something for the portfolio. Textures will follow after I complete the uv mapping. There are a few deviations from the original sketch, but none I considered significant. Capturing the major forms was my goal. Comments are welcome.

you did capture the main form, but those little things you left out add lots of style / detail to the gun, and I think you should follow through on them :hmm:
good model tho, looks nice!

Thanks. Much of what is missing is intended to be added during the texture mapping phase, however there are a couple of elements I'll likely model and add. A couple parts of the mesh need to be cleaned up, as well.

Definitely. The main reason I modeled the gun was to have fun making the textures. There will be multiple high resolution bump, specular, diffuse and self-illumination maps created to achieve the final look. I'll likely have them started by next weekend, time permitting.
