Hey All,

I"m new to Maya, coming from Lightwave. I'm trying to teach myself Maya right now in my off time at school.

Is there a way to add thickness to an object. What I mean is this; I have a revolved object, looks like a fish bowl. I want to add thickness to the bowl. I know I could've revolved a curve that already had a thickness to it...but I wanna try it this way, just for the sake of trying it. I know how to do it in LW, but I'd like to move over into Maya...gotta teach myself here...

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hamish

Thanks Levitateme,

I know how to do it that way.

Let's say the object is not a bowl but maybe a trach can, that isn't just round and flat...and the object is already created and just needs to have a thickness to it.

If I'm not making any sense, I'm sorry. I will try to post some screen grabs when I get home.

Thanks,

Hamish

Your bowl has history attached. (from the original curve) So you can adjust your original curve, and watch the modifications that happen to your bowl in real time until you get the shape you desire. :)

Just select your original curve, and move, or scale it, and you'll see what I mean. :wavey:

But that is if you have not deleted your history, or turned off your history at any point. If you have, delete your bowl, and just revolve it again from the same curve. Make sure your history is on in your menu bar. It is the icon almost all the way to the right that looks like a scroll. If there is a red forward slash through it you have turned your history off. ;)
