I'm having a devil of a time trying to implement a little bit of muscle movement in my dino character. I've tried Xpresso, MuscleBone plugin, but I'm doing something wrong. I'm confused on where in my hierarchy the muscle bones need to go and how it gets "fixed". No matter where I put them they either don't work right, or when I reset the bones they scale and jump all over the place.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

there is a very clear example of a muscle bulging in the feature/mocca folder, it will explain how to build the expression and where to place the "muscle" in the hierarchy.

it worked with me!:bounce:

generally, the "muscle" should be parented to the previous bone, in order to follow its rotations.

I hope to be helpful! :wavey:

Thanks Sanciock. I can't believe I didn't see that. I thought I hunted for every tut or example on the disc.

Thanks...I'll give it a try...

Well, I gave it a shot and still can't get the muscle bone to behave properly. If I get it in the right place, it doesn't scale at all, if I get it to scale, then it knocks the whole rig (the leg in this case, at least) out of whack.

I'll keep at it. Any insight, let me know. It looks very easy, so I must be doing something wrong...

Have you given the muscle bone a restriction tag?

Bob... u can also try using a bulge deformer, with an expression!
I think it would work!
Or maybe u can also copy your mesh do a morph target of the leg bulged and link the bone rotation to the PoseMixer slider! Just a driven key with a range mapper!

These are only alternatives that come to my mind!

Yes...those ideas would probably work also. I'll try them as well. I always like to ask the forums in case I missed something obvious or others have already done what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for all the help!

And no, I haven't put a restriction tag on the muscle bone. Didn't think I needed it. Right now, no matter how I set it up either the bone doesn't scale at all or it scales too much and flips over at a certain point.

i think is a matter of the ranfe mapper settings!
Try to play with them!

Thanks, Sanciok. Yes, it's all in the Range Mapper! It's a little confusing, but I think I'll just have to play around with it.

Thanks again!
