OK, i have a question or two regarding how to make my door open, as i dont really do any animation at work only design & visualisation all this is new to me so forgive me if any of my questions sound dumb.
What i want to do is have my door of my vehicle open, the door is like a 2 part draw bridge, first the main part opens then the second smaller part which is connected to the main part rotates round aswell. Do i attach bones to these objects? is this the best way, is there a good tutorial for setting this kind of thing up? im not sure as how to set the limits up either is this the solver part of it?? I would also like to set up the whole thing with a slider if thats possible im not sure how to do that either. So any help with either would be appreciated.
thanks.
heres my vehicle its a new London taxi for 2010.

select the door>go to the motion tab and hit effect pivot only and put the pivot in the right place for the door, then turn off effect pivot only.

then use link constraints...it matters which way you link.

then the door will be attached to the car but the car will not be attached to the door so when you move the car the door will move and when you move the door you just move the door.

btw you can put the pivot anywhere you like to get just the right effect even in the middle of the car.

after all that you just select the door and rotate...which is key frame animatible

ok thanks, but what if i want a slightly more complex animation, so that the door moves forward before rotating and the the end part only rotates when it reaches a certain angle, i want to be able to fire off these events with a slider, can i do this?

you can absolutely do that with a slider.

You might have to make a dummy or two to react off of (and those dummys have to be linked to the car just like the door) and then link the slider to multiple actions....you might have to use expressions (and not wireing paramaters) so that the actions can be initiated at different points along the slider.

but thats the crux of it.
