View Full Version : Elevation map
holycause 07-01-2008, 01:22 PM I was wondering how it would be possible to render an elevation map from an object.
I would like to use it later in a particle system.
I was looking for it in the ms help file, but didn't find where i could find some info about it.
Bobo do speek about it in your Advanced MAXScript DVD?

you can use ZDepth or falloff by distance

Wouldn't personally do it any other way, you can do a lot with using a gradient ramp. Render it to RLA and it'll be more powerful as a 32bit Floating image.
You can use things like Distance fog to do a similar thing but the above method would be quickest way of doing it.
