View Full Version : Luminance and shadows

Gang,
I believe I'm missing something very basic.

When I add a little bit of luminance to my floor's material, it seems to stop accepting cast shadows from my text and other objects. While I know I could run a seperate shadow pass with different materials and comp later, I'd really like to know if I'm missing something obvious in the floor material's settings.

So, can a slightly luminant object receive shadows for multipass renders, and if so, how?

Thanks much.

Scott

hi
i've a small suggestion,
if you've Advanced Render then you've the GI pass with its shadow (i think)
and if you use Area light you can select any polygon object to take its form, so just add the floor to the exclude area and choose only the shadow option...
sorry if am wrong, only suggestions ;)

Something must be wrong, for me I still see shadows. You'll only loose visible shadows if you make your floor's luminance so bright that the shadow area gets blown out, the shadows still exist in the multipass (unless you've modified something elsewhere, e.g. in a compositing tag or the lights themselves so that no shadows show).
