Hello I’m working with Maya 2008

At the time of the texturage of an object, I would like that certain part is invisible at the time of returned it

I know that one must use of them alpha in black and white to arrive has this result

On my object the zones that must become invisible are in black out them are always the

I applied my alpha on the channel transparency of the material in question (a blin )

Why are the zones always visible?

After several fruitless tests

The result of returned it software is ok

The result of returned it Mental ray is problematic

As you see it the holes are the on returned it software but returned not it Mental ray

I tried with several format of picture jpeg, hair, iff, psd no satisfactory result

I tried then with a checker on the channel transparency of the texture on the black on the white, no satisfactory result while using Mental ray.

I continue has look for but I begin has be had court of idea.

It astonishes me that a thing as basic is not possible in Mental ray and Maya 2008

A little help would have come well

Not sure what you're doing wrong mate, MentalRay works fine with Blinn transparency for me. The only time I have had trouble with transparency in shaders with MR is when using MR's own shaders when you often have to add a mib_transparency node for it to work correctly.

I don't think it is Maya. Watch this tutorial on alpha channel.

It is pretty good.
Hope it helps.
