i created the image in photoshop (targa file) and brought it back into maya and made it into a material and applied it. But after i render it comes up with tranparency. how do i make it a solid object.
I modeled a ring and wanted a add a metal texture on it
How do i fix this

Your targa file probably has an alpha channel in it, and when you apply those to a shader in Maya, it automatically maps it into the transparency channel (I've no idea why Alias thought this would be a good idea, because it's really irritating).

To get rid of it, just right click on the box to the right of Transparency in the Attribute Editor, and select the option to break the connection.

No, you have to right-click on the box to the right of Transparency, the one with the arrow on it. You'll see an option to break the connection. Honestly, this stuff is covered in Maya's manual.
