I've always wondered where people get those really cool worn-rusty-dirty metal textures that you always see on the really cool robot models around here...

Does anyone have idea where to get good stuff like that? I Im having a really super hard time creating textures like those... Are they usually hand painted or based off images downloaded or maybe photographs from junk yards?

I guess based-off images. There's a lot of rusty metal textures, indeed it's harder to find decent brand-new metal textures. Here's for a start http://cgtextures.com/
