View Full Version : Hair Dept Question
EyeKyu 05-24-2003, 08:57 PM I was wondering if there was a way to apply hair with Hair Department only to a selection instead of the whole object. Could anyone help me out?

well you can always use split for the polys you want and then jsut apply the hair to a new object.

I've tried that, it doesn't work too well.

Is there a better way to do this?

Does it support vertex maps, perhaps? I only tested Hair Dept once to see what would happen... Otherwise, a split should work well, perhaps followed by some manual editing. What kind of result are you looking for, btw?
ive indeed had the same problem, i am afraid that u indeed just have to split the polys...and yea, it aint working too well...

Yep you will have to split the polys. This worked fine for me, but using a HyperNurbs is a pain. To get exactly the right shape you have to split the polys then Hypernurbs them again, then make the HN editable.....then use the polys to add hair....otherwise, not using HN, you add hair to an unsmoothed area, creating overlaps with the original mesh! Works, just needs patience!
