View Full Version : Vehicles: wheels
Here's a wheel....I know I still need shadows, but I want to put it on a car first. I still need a tread texture, anyone have one?
How does the ratio of height to width look? hard to tell fron this picture but any initial feedback will be appreciated.

what software are you using, im sure I can find you a tutorial on how to make a better wheel (no offense) but that wheel isnt good. however, im sure you have the ability to make a good wheel, all you need to know is the right tools to use, etc... and tutorials help you with that.

ratios (diameter x width) in inches:
17x7
18x7.5
19x8
etc.. etc..
On to the rim:
I'm sorry to say it like it is, but I will be blunt. That wheel is butt ugly. Unless it is for a cartoon car, I think you should start over.
The spokes dont look like they connect to the rim and the center piece correctly. The spokes are also toooooo wide (real spokes are surprisingly pretty skinny). Your lugs could use more than six sides (unless you are gonna render really really small).
A good and easy technique for making wheels is the nsx tutorial (It also explains a great technique for making the car too).
Also, what kind of wheel are you making? Are you making it up? With the shap and number of spokes, it looks like a motegi mr-7.
There are many websites that you can get reference material from.
Im sorry if I sound rude, butt this is a c&c forum and this is my c&c. It wouldnt hurt to make the wheel again, but you better set aside a good hour or two (or a few) if you want to make a nice accurate wheel.

Again I am not trying to make you mad or offend by telling you stright up that your wheel sucks, but I think I would do more damage if I told you that this is a good start. It doesnt hurt to start over. On my first tries I made like 10 wheels before I got it right.
Heiyuu - I'm not offended at all at your remarks, if it stinks...IT STINKS. I'll just re-do it. I'm still getting a feel for things, you know when I think it looks ok but don't have anyone who knows what they're doing look at it, then I'll just head off in the wrong direction. I appreciate your comments.
Gremlin - Thanks for your comments too, ditto on the rest on my message.
I guess I shouldn't try to do too much without looking at a few tutorials, thanks for the links. I want to get better, you guys/gals are the pro's, I'm not even a beginner yet.
