Hi everyone, here is the animation from which some of you may have seen clips of from my showreel. The animation is called 'Smile' and it was recently completed for my final project at the University of Portsmouth.

Any feedback or comments from anyone would be very welcome.

hi Tottman1,

It has a lot going for it and I could easily rewatch it a few times.
There is a lot of character in there which is mighty impressive.
You make it look easy getting models feel alive.


The only thing that put me off is the ending. Why does the mouthless guy eat the red guy after he has found happiness.

That being said, you told a clear story well with characters that feel alive and breathe in a tastefull manner and a fun style. Hats off for that!

haha thanks a lot Banshax, im glad u liked it.

As for the ending I like to leave it open to the viewers interpretation. One possiblity is that the smile is the only reason he is happy, once it is removed it takes away his happiness, and uncovers a horrible monster underneath.

Alternatively, i also like the idea that this may not be the first time this series of events may have happened; Perhaps the big guy is only acting happy and naive, and by acting this way he manages to trick his unsuspecting prey (in this instance the red guy) into his trap!

but im sure there are a few more reasons i havent thought of...
