Title: field girl
Name: James Wolf Strehle
Country: USA
Software:

originally it was just a quick pinup but people like the field light concept so I ended up turning it into an illustration, fairly simple piece, my main focus was on the lighting and figure of course. at first I had a small story that a hawk swooped down and stole her clothes for its nest but I decided it would ruin the simplicity of the image so forget i said that :) done in photoshop,

I like the lighting and the two strands of hair still on her back.

Hello!
I like the colors and the atmosphere and I also wouldn't complain much about the atonomy. The only thing that does not seem really harmonic (imho) is the composition. But I can not really say why. Maybe I have to think about it a little longer.

But good work! :)

cheers
Marc

cool, thanks for the crit, certainly appreciate it, I'd love to hear any additional thoughts if you do figure out what bothers you about the comp :)

James,

Really nice lighting and composition on this. I think you've achieved what you set out to do. My only crit or desire for improvement for this would be the rendering of the leaves/foliage at her feet in the foreground. The strokes look a little too whimsical. Perhaps rendering the leaves in the foreground more completely (fully highlights, detail) to match the girl would help the depth on the ground element a little more. You might also try introducing a mist to obscur things on the bottom of the piece (my lazy man's approach). Anyway, this is a very nice painting ... I just wanted to give you some food for thought. That's all.

great advice :) yeah the leaves were a bit neglected heh heh, the lazy mans approach sounds like a perfect solution to remedy this situation lol. if i have time i'll definitely go back into it. thanks for the advice :)
