Psycholink 05-24-2003, 07:43 PM Glow not work in glass-windows look image..

I use same properties ( G-buffer : 1 ) "Object Channal" at all i want have glow but work not in glass window :/
I have low opacity and falloff to opacity.

not quite sure what your question is, please clarify.. you want the bottom glass to glow?

I mean under glass-window bottom I want have glow..
You see light under glass-windows under lights "box" I want have glow :)
maxs transparency kills the gbuffer data behind it so the glows wont show....
i dont know a way around it except either composition after rendering or this...digimations xray

is it just me or it is actually glowing? just a bit blurred., Try to decrease the glow parameters. make it smaller but more concentrated.
or i might be wrong and i need to change glasses

maybe you want your glow to be reflected by objects or be visible through transparent objects. therefore you need your glow to be accessed by a material-id and not by a g-buffer channel.
material effect ids can by assigned to materials (who would believe this ;) ) in the material editor.
for using this method go to your glow effect and switch from object-id to effect-id. there you have to enter the appropriate numbers you assigned in the material editor before.

How can I get material texture "g-buffer" ?
or maybe Digimation xray can fix my problem :D

ahm, in your material editor you have a button (below the material slots) with a big blue zero on it. klick and hold this button. a menu will pop up where you can select a number from 1 to 15.
that way you assign material ids.

I think using material effects to affect glow only work with raytraced reflections. But it's interesting, since the transparency doesn't kill material effects buffer

Itīs work not :(
I change effects to 1 in material editor and in falloff/opacity and in glow settings but not work
I think Digimation xray are a good way to fix problem :D

video post glow won't work behind geometry...

Ok, Digimation Xray glow work behind geometry or other plug-ins?

i'm sure something does... you could work around this problem though by maybe using volume lights instead of video post. The effect could be the same depending on the thickness of the glass you plan on having

In my underwater scene I also had this problem (and many other lighting problems) I made testrenders without the glass till I was happy with the lens flare effects and when I rendered the whole scene the lens effects turned out to be practicaly invisible..
If I remember correctly I increased the lens effects globals.
I'm not sure thou if will help to solve your problem.. anyway, if xray can do the job, why not use it?
Composite and be done with it.

Please check the following...
1. Global Raytracer settings, make sure Reflect Refract Material ID is checked.
2. Glow Render Effect, set to source on material effects ID (same as selected in your material).
That should do it.

Yes, indeed, raytraced glass, have it reflect/refract mat id's and this should indeed work. of course the materials has to have a material id assigned and your effect has to use the same, after that, bobs your uncle...

the lights are fine.. just make the glass more reflective..
why does glass glow..caus it reflects.
so thats it.. make the light bounce some ways.. with refraction and you have it i guess..
use a raytraced material..

I have tried and tried but failed but maybe you can put .max file here as I can download and try please.
