The kind of survey where you gain information from a number of points of view.

The one i prefer is the classic material library object/scene made by ThomasAn at the Maxwell Render forum, all the others that popped up everywhere since then have been nothing but bad copies.
I like it's simplicity and perfection, it works very well for just about any type of material you produce. Including displacement and sss materials.

Can you post a link to that materials library, perhaps? Been looking over at that forum with no luck
thanks much.

Sure thing Dennis, here you go. The MXM Gallery, the resource of Maxwell Render materials. :)

Another material example i just finished and uploaded, this is a green cellulose acetate shader, it's a type of hard plastic, often found in screwdriver handles. :) (thumbnail link below)

Thanks very much. Sorry, but I know nothing about Maxwell - do you need their C4D plug-in to use these materials?

To make use of Maxwell's materials you ofcourse need to have Maxwell Render, and you can download the demoversion on the website to test it if you want. There's also the C4D plugin there in the download area. If you're in the need of tutorials they have a whole website filled with them, it's called Think! and it's located here http://think.maxwellrender.com/ and a (http://think.maxwellrender.com/)
Finally there's the main forum which is a good resource of info and nice people you can ask for help with stuff you can't find in the manuals and on the Think website.
I think that covers everything.. :D and yeah, if you have plenty of patience it definately helps hehe

Are there any standard C4D material models like this?

In the material/shader where you have a preview of the material/shader right click and you can choose any of the presets there (right click and drag to rotate the preview scene), you can add scenes as you wish into your library/materialpreview folder and choose one to be used as a default by setting the defaults for that material in the AM.
