I have a problem with the NET Render, the SERVER found the client and I start render a Job but after a couple of minutes it stop rendering, show 100% but there is an error and only the first frame of the animation has rendered.
The error says: "error - File could not be created"
In the SERVER window there is: "Assembling failed (File could not be created)"
It's not the first time it does that...

Do someone knows what the problem is?

Are you rendering to a QT movie or a frame sequence? Try a frame sequence instead if so.

A codec problem (as Joel pointed out), or a problem with write access or disk capacity can be the reason for this.

As a helpful rule, always render to a per frame sequence, but like Srek said, I'm guessing you have a problem with write access or disc capacity.

Sorry but I just a begginer with the all animation part..
I don't have QT on my computer so I use the deafult it gives me.
How do I make it rendering to a per frame sequence?
And what does it mean "write access"??

In the rendersettings choose TGA or TIFF as output format.
Don't use Quicktime or AVI. Especially AVI can give you some nasty surprises since not all codecs support all rendering resolutions.
Write Access is the right create and change files at a specific location on the harddisk. This is handled by the Operating System and depending on where and how you installed Net Renderer can keep it from beeing able to save the rendered images.
My personal guess is that you have choosen an output format like AVI small and choose a resolution of 800x600 or more wchi is simply not supported by the codec.
However this is hard to say without more detailed information from you.

Thank you very much! I'll change the format and see how it's working.
Do you have any advices how could I make the animation render better in any way or anything about the NET Render?
If you have tips from your personal experience I would like to hear them..

Thanks angain!

The best tip you will ever get is to never render encoded/compressed movies but single images with no, or lossless compression. TIFF or TGA are optimal for this.

Thank you.. I'll remember that!
I still have a problem- I use TIFF & TGA and the NET Render finish the render but it's still give me just the first frame and not a movie..
Anyone know why is it happaning?

Have you checked the range you set in the rendersettings?

Eran1

Yeah you right.. I changed the range and now it's rendering the all scene.
I still have a little ptoblem: I chacked the folder that contains the rendered frames and every frame is a separate TIFF file.. How do I make from all the frames one video file of movie???

And another question- the NET Render is suppose to be an animation's render engine but I can render single frame with range of 0. Will single frame render be in the same quality like rendering single frame in the C4D??

Thanks everyone!!!

An Animator will usually render frames (as you have done) and then use another compositing program like After Effects or a video editing program like Premiere or final Cut to string the frames together and output a movie. Also Quicktime pro ($30 USD) will import all your frames and output a movie file for you as well.

You can STILL render to a movie file through NET if you absolutely must--but you need to make sure QT is installed on every box or you will get the "assembly error" you got initially.

And regarding your question on "quality"--NET IS cinema 4d--there should be no diffeerence (in most cases) what the rendered frame looks like on your box or rendered from a NET client. The only thing that could make a difference sometimes is if you are mixing MAC OS and Windows boxes--sometimes theres a difference in the gamma (contrats/brightness) of the frames. And of course you need to make sure all plugins and modules on your workstation are also installed in your NEt client boxes or you will see differences. Theres your free crash course on rendering animation sequences in cinema 4d.

You need to take a look at your HELP manual--and the book that comes with the program. There are lots of tips like this included there that would have gotten you up to speed.

Actualy to render to QT you don't need QT on the clients, only on the server, which does the assembling. Only if you use movies or images that use QT as codec in your scene you need it installe don the clients as well.

Thank you sooo much Srek & JoelD!
You helped me alot with all the NET Render subject.

Well- now I'll just wait untill it will finish to render all the frames.

by the way- what's the difference between TIFF and TGA?

Tiff is a bit more powerfull regarding layering but for NEt rendering there ar eno differences.

AH--yes--of course you're correct. I remembered an incident recently where clients were dropping off that didnt have QT installed on them--an the reason was (now that i think of it) because a QT movie was used as a texture. When I typed the post I forgot the reason why it was needed on all clients.
