Hey Folks,

I would like to present the results of an animation project I recently completed in Cinema 10.5.
This is part of a collaborative animation project that was started last year by some members over on the C4DCafe.
I originally became involved to help out with the music but recently since I've been studying animation, I was asked if I would like to try animating the main character of the animation - Fred the crow. I was delighted to be asked but was concerned that the sheer size of the project would mean that it would take months of work to complete it. I suggested trying a short clip with the character as a way to test out the rig (which has had a few revisions in the meantime)

So, to make a long story a bit shorter, I spent the last couple of weeks working on this animation, it was supposed to be just an animation test but I guess I got a bit carried away.. the Fred character is such an appealing character it was hard not to keep adding stuff.. http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif During this time I also watched a lot of Road Runner cartoons (purely for research purposes, you understand http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif )

The full clip is 50 seconds long including the credits, you can watch it as Flash video streaming on my website (5.5mb, please be patient as it's setup to load 50% before it streams as the humor relies on it playing smoothly).

There's also a link on the same webpage to download a larger, higher-quality version, I'd encourage you to do so if possible, as it looks a lot better.

Here's the LINK (http://www.graphite9.com/fred.html)

Hope you enjoy it !

Cheers,

Brian

Many thanks guys, thanks for checking it out.

@Benytone - The rig has been improved since this animation, it now has 'bendy' IK on the arms and legs and a jiggle deformer on the stomach.

As for 'better movement and keyframe animation' .. this is something I try to improve on every animation I make, I can see lots of areas on the animation I would like to improve but I also want to move on to the next test with the new version of the rig.
If you get a chance,I would appreciate if you could mention a couple of the weakest areas of the animation in your opinion as this would be useful to me to improve my craft. It's always great to get criticism from fresh eyes!

Cheers,
Brian
