I doesn't sound logic to me, but it's true. Although has no GUI and only loads needed plugins, from my experience when rendering my last project i have to say that it's true.
I'm still using a 32bit system (Windows, LW and plugins),and recently i'm suffering from the 2Gb window's limit for applications (/3GB helps but it's not the panacea). Although i make an extensive use of HD Instance and Infinimap to save memory, i'm touching the ceiling of my system.
But it was a surprise to me that after trying to render my last project on my small Renderfarm, after rendering a few frames, nodes started to crash or failing to allocate enough memory for HDInstance. It was strange because while editing the scene on Layout i use to launch F9 renders quite intensively without problems (well, sometimes i have to close Layout and reload the scene after a long session). Well, the fact is that i'm actually rendering the project from Layout assigning frames or ranges of frames manually (a pain in the ass).
So, my conclusion is that Newtek has not optimized Screamernet very much. Has anyone had the same problem ?
By the way. Is there any way to manage a renderfarm using layout's renderer ?. I mean, something like the way FPrime does it ? You know, using that WSN.exe proggy
Thanks
