Hi y'all
I'm trying my hardest as modeller/texturer/lighting artist/renderer all-in-one to get some photorealistic arch viz images using 3Ds MAX and Mental Ray. As my Mental Ray knowledge is pretty limited I'd like to know how you achieve nice soft lighting and shadows, as the only shadows that really seem to work with the MR renderer are Ray Traced, which always produce hard shadows. As a large number of my scenes are indoors, I'd like to achieve the soft light that is diffused through windows. I usually set up a Sunlight system as my main light source for daylit scenes, with an omni or two to lift the light, and obviously with Global Illumination enabled.
Help anyone??
And THANK YOU in advance
