Done in 3ds max 5, over a time span of about 4 months. This is my first poly modeled car, in fact my first seriously poly-modeled anything. Was a great learning experience!

Realnice!!! The problem is that the car looks better then the background. Being a BMW fan, can say that the grill has a little worng proportion, and it would be nice to see AC Schnitzer wheels on this baby.

Is it lift for cars?

God DAMN! That is nice work! I'm making my first car too. First serious model of anything. Very nicely done. I love the shader too. I agree, however, that the background image is too low quality for the picture. Try another picture or maybe a quick render of some buildings and then blur them slightly.

Looks great:buttrock: , however the wheels don't seem to be EXACTLY the right size :surprised (maybe it's the angle). The M3 comes with 18"wheels as standard but the ones in the pic look very 17ish. However you've completed the wheel design a LOT better than some other artists that have attempted it.
The bonnet bulge is a little more pronounced in reality. As mentioned before by DSedov you also have issues with your front kidney grille (can't put my finger on it, maybe it's a little too flat?).
The mirrors also seem to bend "down" a little at the ends but maybe again this is due to the perspective.

In all, VERY good work :airguitar but maybe i'm being a little too strict on my critique as I'm a BIG BMW fan (drive one myself, E36 coupe, modified nicely). As i've mentioned mods, any plans to add your own "halo, angel, demon" headlights as per the 5-series? (I also notice the lack of digital roof aerial, or is this an intentional omission?)

Keep it up, you're very talented!

At first I thought.. cor blimey.. reflections a bit much innit.. but then in a situation like that it possibly would be that noticeable. Unfortunately though, that set up does make it pretty hard to actually see the form of the car. Others have mentioned the grille, it would be nice to see some flatter renderings form different views. For a first car though, it's excellent. :)

Thanks for your comments! It took quite a while to get the shape of the kidney grills, and they are pretty damn accurate. But I guess at that angle, you don't get to see much of the car. Here's a shot from the back:

looks very good!
But I have to agree, there is something wrong with the grill! The one on the real one is more width than high.

Have U made the latest m3, the one with LED tail lights?

Can U post a pictures where we can see tha car better, that black is killing every detail :surprised
Render a simple scene with elight or a skydome :)

Where is that litle thing that have to be on the roof (antenna I guess) ?

And where is that litle tiny rear spoiler, can't see it... !?

Cya.

Looks awesome. One little detail thing however.

the air slits over the side marker are usually polished metal and there is a M logo on them.

one problem with a grill might be his monitor resolution. Some resolutions are not 4:3. I had this problem before, when one of my models turned to be not excact proportions as I expected. But then I didn't use bluepprints, that would be distortorted with the model as well. Its only when you eyeball the model

Now there's a thing i didn't notice (shame on me). :shame:

Daniel is right about the lip spoiler on the bootlid. It's not there. However, the detail mentioned about the front arch vents isn't noticable from this angle. I can make the little M£ logo from the first pic but it's because of perspective reasons that I can't see it properly i think. Any chance of some wires?

Good work, yes I like the model, but the enviroment isn´t the best for me.

Thanks a lot for all your comments!

Well, the kidney grills ARE the correct proportions. Problem is with this shot, the camera is zoomed way in, so it distorts the view a bit, making the grill seem a bit short lengthwise. But looking at it head-on, it has the right proportions.

I left the little spoiler in the back out of my model. One of the references I was using was without it, and I thought it looked better.

Anyway, here's a wire!

thanks! Glad you like it

I tired to keep the mesh as clean as possible, but some parts didn't turn out as I had hoped... but the NURMS subdivision helped cover that up!
